From August 13-23, Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík, will host a number of celebrations in the streets and squares, in museums, businesses and residential gardens for Reykjavík Culture Night! This event marks the start of the cultural year, when the city’s museums, theaters and other cultural institutions launch their annual program of events. The event is organized and produced by the Reykjavík Cultural Office, in collaboration with other city departments, organizations, artists, societies and more.
Typically, the event runs on one day from 1-11pm, but this year the festival will spread over ten days in August. Citizens and guests can enjoy the festival day after day, and the celebrations will end with a magnificent fireworks show by the harbor. Visitors will be able to take part in a number of exciting cultural events including art exhibitions, concerts, dance recitals and more. All events are free of charge for everyone to enjoy.
