Beginning at 7pm ET on Dec. 31, tune in to Iceland Naturally’s homepage to catch Reykjavik’s famous New Year’s Eve fireworks show live!
Due to a lack of fireworks restrictions, all of Reykjavik’s 200,000+ citizens join together to create a renowned fireworks display every New Year’s Eve. Most of the proceeds from fireworks sold there benefit the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue.
According to Icelandic folklore, New Year’s Eve is a time for many magical events: cows talk, seals take on human form, the dead rise from their graves and elves move houses! Traditional holiday festivities include a family dinner and bonfire, where family and friends gather to watch fireworks and welcome the new year.
