You’ve never seen Iceland like this before! Russian photographer Andre Ermolaev captured some stunning photos of Iceland from above. BuzzFeed featured a series of shots of Icelandic rivers flowing “down volcanoes and black volcanic sand.” The rivers break up into a complex system of capillary streams. The rivers cover massive stretches of land and wind through landscapes formed by volcanic eruptions and carved by glaciers
Some interesting Iceland facts from the BuzzFeed article:
- Glaciers still cover 10% of Iceland and can sometimes be black from volcanic ash.
- There are 35 active volcanoes on or around the island.
- Iceland is a little smaller than Kentucky or Cuba.
