The acclaimed, multi-day festival showcases the best of Iceland, offering attendees an experiential glimpse into Iceland’s rich culture. The (mostly free!) events highlight the Nordic nation’s cuisine, cocktails, music, design and film across a number of North American cities.
Some of Taste of Iceland’s most popular events include an Icelandic dinner menu at an acclaimed local restaurant and the Reykjavik Calling concert at a local venue.
The Icelandic menu offered at Taste of Iceland events is the result of a collaboration between a local chef and Icelandic chef, coupled with uniquely Icelandic cocktails inspired by Iceland’s signature spirit, Brennivin, and/or Reyka Vodka. The multi-course menu offering is typically available every night throughout the festival. Past dishes featured delicious Icelandic ingredients like Arctic Char, Salted Cod “Bacalao” and Langoustine and, of course, Icelandic lamb.
The free Reykjavik Calling concert combines the best of Iceland’s musical talent with an exciting local band. In previous years, Icelandic musicians that have performed include Kaleo, Vök, Gyda, Sturla Atlas, Mammút, Soley and more! Wonder what it’s like? In addition, Taste of Iceland festivals have included literature discussions with Iceland’s First Lady, film screenings featuring short films and documentaries from Iceland’s leading film festival, Shortfish, and design seminars featuring prominent names in the Icelandic design and architecture world.
